Depression in children
A mental disorder associated with change in moods and feelings from low to high levels. It can occur in anybody and with no age bar. This would be the depression definition. Depression in children has become a serious problem in the recent years. This depression is very different from that in adults. We may think that children cannot be affected by depression but it is very natural to get developed. Due to the carelessness the severity grows. As the child grows the emotions also develop, this in turn is the cause for the depression in children.
There may be a number of reasons that cause depression in children, though we may think that a child is free from problems. But depression affects the very essence of childhood to a greater extent. The various symptoms that are found in children are change in moods, loss of sleep and appetite, change in temper like anger and rage, sad moods, irritability, loss of interest in enjoyable activities. It is essential to have a friendly talk with a child if identified to have a depression and then consult an expert or a school psychologist for further guidance.
